Yes, I have a lot of programs.  Unfortunately, MS Word is in a column that I can no longer see because the screen isn't big enough anymore because I switched to a smaller monitor.  How do I make a desktop shortcut or launch bar access to open the program?  Right now, I have to look up "Documents" and open a Word doc to access the program.

Yes, I gave up a 17" monitor to a littler one we had lying around collecting dust.  Waste not, want not, and we're pretty broke right now.  This is the only problem that's arisen from the switch so far.

TIA!

Right click on the desktop and make a shortcut to it?

Not sure how to tinker with the start progs in windows I'm afraid.

Go through My Computer - C:\Program Files\microsoft office\office find the winword.exe right click, send to > Desktop (Create shortcut)

Once it's there you can drag it onto the taskbar or use it from the desktop - or alter your screen resolution to get all the columns in

i am very lazy so often use just the run box to start programs

you can either click start then run or hold the windows key on your keyboard and press 'r'

then type winword and hit enter

other progs that i am too lazy to click for being-

  • excel
  • calc
  • excel
  • charmap

Thanks guys, I just learned a lot from you!  Right now I'm trying a new option on how the Start key works, and WinWord comes right up as a choice, with everything else available as a long, one-column scroll.  If that doesn't turn out well, I'll do a search for winword.exe, as I already looked for it under MS Office but apparently overlooked it.

Y'all have a great day, and thanks again!  smile

  • calc
  • charmap
  • cmd
  • excel
  • iexplore
  • msconfig
  • notepad
  • outlook
  • photoshop
  • regedit
  • winword

All useful shortcuts I use fairly regularly. I always run calc, charmap, notepad, word and cmd in this way (Start Key + R) - I wouldn't even know where to find "cmd" in the start menu.
