I've been a SiteHQ client for a number of years and have no desire to move elsewhere but notice that they now have UK based servers. My site at the moment is hosted on one of their 'old' US based servers but my hosting expires next month so was considering moving it to one of their UK servers. The only reason for doing this is because sometimes I have a bit of a battle getting some of my GoogleAds to come from UK companies, would I be right in thinking a UK server would help in this regard?

Also, anyone actually using one of their UK servers, how are you finding it speed wise, reliability wise? I've rarely had a problem with their US servers so don't want make a move that could be worse.

Their new UK servers are hosted within the Rackspace Data center. It's very fast, and I have been toying with getting an account for a friend's site.

The actual sitehq.co.uk site is hosted in that data center, so I guess that's a reliable measure of speed.

Google usually looks at the visitor's location to determine which ads they server and not the site's location. Advertisers can control who and where they show their ads to, so theoretically a change in server shouldn't make a difference to the ads you see. There is some sort of tool that you can run and you can use it to then make your site display ads if you were from China, the US or UK for example, and you'd see a whole host of varying ads.

Also maybe the non UK ads are paying more and therefore they'll be more likely to be displayed on your page if the advertiser is happy to receive UK custom. Your best bet is to block the ads you don't want displaying and after a while the UK ads (if there are any) should start to appear, however their payout will no doubt be less, but of course CTR could/should rise.

I've been using their UK package for my latest site and had absolutely no reliability or speed problems whatsoever.

Not the greatest web site in the world and not quite complete, but www.backbeatmag.co.uk if you want to see for yourself.

Hope that helps...

Glad I renewed in June before the US servers disappeared from their options list.  You got a bit more for your money, to be honest, as well as cPanel and the "traditional" SiteHQ setup.  I'm sure the UK servers are good - Rackspace are excellent - but I am honestly quite fond of the package I'm currently on.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake
And the science gets done, and you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive
