Totally agree. The initial mock up had a lovely image on it but she didn't like it and asked for no pics.
I've added a little detail at the bottom, but I still think it's missing something.

I like the idea, but I think you've tried to go monocromatic, and ended up with too high a contrast. Have you tried losing the high-contrast black and going for shades of the cream/skin tone instead. Lose the tints, use shades, and I think it will hang together nicely. Does that make sense?
