Not sure if anyone is interested, but I have uploaded over 1500 pictures of the recent floods within the Doncaster area along with the Gloucestershire photos. I spent a total of 9 days in these areas and hope that the photos taken give you an insight to the areas you did not get to see on the news.

We did very wellout of it as we were called in whilst on annual leave. One thing the strike did was put morale at the lowest for 30 years. So much so, no one will now do anything unless it benefits them. The service wanted to change to more of a business, so thats what they got. Good will went out of the window, hence the reason you no longer see open days. smile

Some good shots in there mate - hundreds of em tho :O

The thing that struck me as funny during the floods was that Gloucestershire was in the news until Oxford started to flood, then it was like Gloucs never existed - every news story on the radio was some reporter saying to the anchor "Can you hear that? -splish splash splish splash" as they paddled in the water.

Yes, there are a few, a few too many to be honest, but to be involved in something like this was quite a good feeling. Yes I was paid very well, but also to be called upon because I had particular skills that would help in flooding situations and also help those in Gloucestrshire was a great feeling. There were only around 15 of us that met the requirements and ending up spending a week down there. It was very different on TV than it actually was.

I presume you recognise the 2 power station involved. Glad it stayed on for you. We were told that if the electric was to go off, they would have to evacuate over 600,000 people, now that would have been interesting and would probable have taken a month.

Yes, thank you for everything to you and all the other personnel for everything done in Gloucester.

Had I known you were in the area, I'd have taken you out for a pint.  Doh.

Is it true that the effort was increased due to the fact that GCHQ is also fed from those stations??  wink1
