Got a JVC one. Perfectly happy with it. Was torn between it and a samsung. It just looked clearer in the shop.

Your best bet is to get down a shop and actually look at them working. See which your eyes find the best. Try and get the store muppets to put a decent signal through the telly rather than the 20 TVs off one signal they usually have which makes everything look crap. You might be better to go to a good independent store to have a look even if you end up buying elsewhere.

I can't remember which one as I'm at work and the telly is at home. It's not one of the top of the range one's but not the worst either. 32" cost about £600 about 6-7 months ago.

I think that's the new version of the one we've got. Very pleased with it as I say - much better picture than the old TV which wasn't bad in the first place.

I got all my advice from avforums. They normally have recommendations based on cost in there.

I've got a Panasonic 42", but it's an old model now. They're still a good make though.

I have a 40" Sony Bravia, twas on offer on the currys website a couple months back, picked it up for £780 instead of £1099, picture is bloody brilliant, none of that blur and pixelation a lot of LCDs have on sport like football.

TBH I'm involved in tactical warefare here. I've yet to break the news that I'm thinking of trading-in the Harley for something more appropriate for the 21st Century.  whistling

I wanted to get a 37", but my missus insisted on a 40" suprisingly - she said the extra 3" makes all the difference. or something.

TBH, if you had a JL near you, I would've coughed up the extra for the warranty and piece of mind it's with JL...

We do, (in teh Toon anyway) but £400 for "piece of mind"? That sounds more expensive than a Dixons warranty  biggrin

says the man who doesn't trust the new technology wink

You could get a warranty after it arrives from somewhere like http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk/ - it's cheaper than buying it from the retailer, as the retailer has to charge 17.5% VAT, but as it's sold as an after market insurance, it's only 5% smile

If youve gone Sony dont expect the normal 'quality' they provide.

Samsung and Panasonic are the best value for money. Hitachi are best upper price range (although they supply boards for others so its worth doing a bit of looking) and for budget LG are alright. Stay clear off philips (I know youve brought yawner, but for others...!)

I say all this, and in our new house we are currently using a 20" LCD which is from woolies and is shite.

I've just followed that link and nearly fell off me chair Mr Y. It's an awful lot of money to watch nothing particularly good. I think age is having an effect on you.

Chris my buttercup. You`re making teh fundemental/schoolboy mistake in assuming I have *any* say in this matter. TBF she's got the telly for 400 less than the price on the link. That said, you are right, its far too much for a box of pixellated blur.

Lets hope my acquiescence and cooperation in this matter bears fruit when I drag her into the motorbike dealers.  wink
