I was just looking at some of the ads on my site as I wanted to block a few of them by using the competitive ad filter. The problem is that I accidentally clicked on 2 of them (I couldnt read the URL and so was trying to highlight the text), now obviously this is against the rules etc and we'll wait and see if Google will slap my wrists over it (seriously doubt it) but my question is that as soon as I clicked on the link I immediately hit the back button and so the new page had barely even loaded. When I look at my clicks for the day nothing new is showing and I haven't 'earnt' any commission.

So, does this mean that it just takes a while for Google to update your clicks and payments or that you only register a click/get paid if the page is completely loaded or viewed for x period of time?

I can't answer your question, but if you're concerned that you might be penalised as a result of the clicks you should email them and tell them that there were 2 accidental clicks.

Eric at MEMWG posts about "accidental clicks". I've done the accidental click thing in the past and always notified Google. It's an easy thing to do particularly if you have more than the usual number of buttons on your mouse. No need to notify Goog from now on.
