Any recommendations for a nice simple way for a client to see fairly accurate stats for their site without them getting involved with cpanel? At the moment I'm going into awstats for them, doing a screengrab and sending them that, but is there a more direct, interative way? I worry that given access to cpanel they could do god-knows-what kinda meddling (which I would then end up fixing). Or is there a way to grant them access to awstats but hiding all the other bits in cpanel?

Ideas?

cheers

You could set up Google Analytics for them. There's plenty of explanation per page of what the information is, plus pretty graphs and charts for the clients to ogle at. Alternatively for an onserver app then Tracewatch is quite good and free. Needs PHP/MySQL to run.

In the past if I wanted to give someone access direct to AWStats you can either give them the direct link and the login (and don't mention cPanel), or perhaps set up a subdomain redirect eg. http://stats.domain.com and set that to redirect to the AWStats link.

Google Analytics is the daddy and the client will also go 'oooooooo' at it.

You can setup access to certain domains on your account to certain users.

I've been using Google Analytics, and setting the system to email a (good-looking) PDF report weekly/monthly to clients. Works really well - set it up and forget about it. smile
