I'm after some advice if you will, I've been using ebay for more than 3 years now but am not sure how to handle this one. Last week I bought an item (buy it now) for ?5.47 (so not much markup), the postage (also ?5.47) of which was listed as follows: Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded - 1 to 2 working days. The seller sent didn't use Royal Mail though, he used ANC who tried to deliver during the day whilst I was at work and couldn't. So they left a card, saying I could pick it up from their nearest depot, some 20 miles away before 17:30 during the week which I simply could not do. The item has since gone back to the seller who claims he has been charged a return fee: Hi, Unfortunately, they have been returned by the couriers, where I was charged return delivery, I can re-send them but I will need a part delivery cost of ?4.50, also as I need a signature on arrival is there another address which you would prefer delivery. Thanks Blah Should I pay up and shut up? I want to say no. If they had been delivered through Royal Mail (as stated on the auction) they would have been left it in the porch, with a neighbor or at my local post office which would not have cost me a penny. What would you do?

Say no, and ask them to resend it as advertised. Make sure you have a screenshot of the auction stating the postage method.

It's their fault. I would say no - leave negative feedback if necessary.

As the auction has ended, a screenshot won't be needed as they can't edit it

Did you not ring ANC up and explain before they returned it?
I didn't but I was expecting a parcel through Royal Mail so just assumed it was for the old dear as she's always getting parcels delivered. It wasn't until a week had passed that I thought it could have been my item. : ( It's a joke how some courier/delivery firms work. It's the same with some ticket firms. How do they expect people who work full time to accept delivery?

I'd argue the toss with the seller - he's not done as advertised.

I'd ask to split the cost of resending it. You both messed up.
How can he mess up when he didnt go to get something that he wasnt supposed to go and get.

How can he mess up when he didnt go to get something that he wasnt supposed to go and get. Cos he got a card telling him it couldn't be delivered which he ignored. Granty could have rung up and arranged a more convenient place/time.

But as he said there wasnt a more convinient time, but there would have been with RM, which is why he used that seller...
Its not sold as described - sellers fault.

/>"Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded - 1 to 2 working days".
Surely by not carrying out his postage method, he is at fault. Anything that occurs after this is also down to the seller for not carrying out the first part of the deal.

"Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded - 1 to 2 working days".
Surely by not carrying out his postage method, he is at fault. Anything that occurs after this is also down to the seller for not carrying out the first part of the deal. That's my thinking. I said I was reluctant to pay any more and that had he delivered through Royal Mail (as described), I would have been able to pick them up. He replied with some extra special spelling.. Hi, Royal Mail have recently changed the prices and the cost of sending such large shaped items is now very expensive (?7.98 up to 2 working days) so I started using a courier service who deliver next working day and cheeper, a lot of ebayers are now, but I couldnt change our listing as I had already paid ebay, as you can see from my feed back, users keep saying "excellent delivery", "fast delivery" this is because of the change to non Royal Mail service. I have also had a lot of parcels returned via Royal mail, because no one was home home to sign for them, as Royal Mail return to sender with in days if no one home to sign, they are not alowed to give them to a neibour on recorded delivey. I don't know if I can be bothered to argue my case. He is still insisting on using UNC. Do I pay up and get them delivered to work (which I shouldn't do)?

There is no such service offered by RM at that cost. How heavy is the item and I'll tell you the proper costs. boo (with her Subpostmistresses hat on)

I lied, I can be bothered... I realise that Royal Mail have recently changed their prices but these have been in place for two months now (before the item/s were listed).
You have not posted the item as described, which surely falls under a "Not as Described Dispute"?
If you will be using UNC, can I ask that you deliver them to:
/>Grantys work A bit petty maybe, but lets see if it turns up at work. I would troll but I need the item by next Tuesday.

That's just what I would have done - you've paid for a service you're not getting so the auction is not as described. Stick to yer guns!

Even if RM had recently changed their pricing model, it's up to him to check that and if he already knew he he shouldn't offer them as a postage option.

Latest.. Hi, I am very sorry if this has caused you a problem, I can send them to any address you supply. Unfortunatly If you read the terms and conditions the seller is not responseable for delivery times, and does not fall under the terms of not as described dispute, I took it upon my self to pay for a Next Day delivery service, so you would receive your goods in a fast, safe and professional way, if I had sent them Royal Mail or ANC, I still require YOUR signiture for insurance purposes, I am very sorry if this has caused you a problem. I do prefer to use a more Professional Courier so as to safe guard my deliverys. I have made a note of your address and will send them on. Please make sure some one is available to sign, if not a card will be left, if this is the case, follow intructions on the card and telephone your local depot to arrange another delivery. Thanks blah. /> Not quite sure what he's on about with regards to delivery times, but it would seem that it's sorted. I haven't sent any more money through.
