How do you check how much you've got?
I know I still need to complete a few steps before my referrer gets extra space.

How do you check how much you've got?
Click the dropbox icon in your tray. One of the menu items shows how much of your quota you've used. e. 1.7 of 2.8GB

Still just 4GB here. You get 250MB free if you complete a series of new user tasks, then 250MB for referrals. If you go to https://www.dropbox.com/account#referrals you can see what referrals have been completed. It's possible that you invited people a while ago and that they've just got around to signing up. Even if they were invited a year ago you'd still get your bonus now.

They've followed up today with an email... Hi Ross, Congrats on becoming a Dropbox Guru! We've awarded you 3GB of bonus space for the next 12 months! You now have 5.75GB on Dropbox. To get even more space, check out our upgrade options. Thanks again for supercharging your HTC phone with Dropbox! Enjoy, - The Dropbox Team So it would seem I've ticked all the boxes for becoming a Dropbox Guru! Even though the last box to tick is to use their mobile app, but I've been doing that for about six months they better not take the extra 3GB back off me in 12 months

Bah, I have 50GB and they've only upped that to 50.25GB. Percentage-wise that's sod-all

Are photography geeks using a different approach to Dropbox? Can you summarise? I just have a localDropbox folder on each of four PCs which I save files to as normal... for example site and template files which I organise as a simple collection of folders per-domain. As far as mobile apps go I have the Dropbox app for Android which I use to view simple documents and images. I only upload/sync from computer. My Android phone automatically uploads all new photos to Google+, but I'm curious as to other ways to make use of my extra Dropbox space

I mostly just use it to share photos and videos with family members. I couldn't really use it as a back up option as I'd need a load of the $20/month accounts just to start with. Some files get synched and/or backed up from various apps on my iphone, and some gets synched to my icloud account. Work stuff goes to Wuala as that's more secure.

I've just started using it to backup/sync when plugging my phone into the computer using the new dropbox, and I got 3.5GB of extra space free.
I use it similar to Mr A. For sharing photos and videos with family. Plus I use it for sharing documents and non-sensitive work related stuff such as spreadsheets of hours for work, or spreadsheets of to do lists. We store our quotes, payslips etc in Wuala however, as Mr A says, its more secure and encrypts everything as opposed to Dropbox which in theory means their staff could access your data (which I think happened some time last year).
