Preferably one that you don't need to buy 'cleaning capsules' or whatever for. I'm trying to save by not buying razor blades all the time.

I've got quite a nice electric razor that I got a couple of Christmases ago. I think it's a Remington (although I can't remember what model off the top of my head). To clean it, you only need to brush the hairs away with the little cleaning brush that's included, or occasionally, pop the heads off and give them a rinse under the tap.
It's also got a nice little hair trimmer thing on the back, and an electric timer showing how much battery charge is left.
It's just a shame I don't have one of those razor sockets in my bathroom.

Also, the decent ones that don't shred your face to ribbons tend to cost the Earth, so you'd have to buy a lot of razor blades to make it worth your while forking out for a nice electric shaver.

I've got a Remington at the mo. It's pretty good. Basic model (not bothered about those ones that have lotions and wet shaving etc), it's got a charging station and tells you have many minutes charge you have left, and you can wash out the heads under the tap which is useful.
Had a Philips before that. Lasted over 10 years before it stopped charging. Really liked that one. Would have bought another Philips, but my wife picked me up a new one that was on offer.
I'd still recommend either.

Great post Jon! I have been following the effort since you started it, and although I have understood its purpose this post does a really great job solidifying the full rationale.

I'm an old fart who once I find a good brand of anything will stick with it thru thick and thin.
Shaver: Philips Philishave. Nothing else will do.

I've got a philips too but it's one of those ones with cleaning fluids.
Wet shave once a week, electric to keep it short. Strangely I seem to be accidentally growing a beard at the moment. I'd better sort it out.
