I have a number of Twitter accounts and the login details are saved in my Firefox password manager.

Recently though I was unable to access http://twitter.com/ as it would keep automatically redirecting to https://twitter.com/ and therefore couldn't use my passwords until I edited the URL for each stored entry in the password manager to https.

That's fine, but then it swapped back again. So I made a copy of them all and added both versions. This then happened on the laptop as well. But then recently a new version of Twitter popped up on the https URL but I was unable to reference my passwords despite the URL being the same. Then it flipped back.

What's going on? Has anyone else noticed this flipping backwards and forwards thing? Why is it doing this? Is it me?

In your profile settings look for this option:

Quote
HTTPS Only [ ] Always use HTTPS
Use a secure connection where possible to encrypt your account information.

Check or uncheck as appropriate and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks David, I usually leave it at the default "Always use HTTPS" but I'll try unchecking it and see if it stops switching around.

Didn't seem to make any difference. There's about four different home pages now, and there seems to be two versions of the https://twitter.com/ sign in page. The new version doesn't pick up my passwords, despite saving them for that page. Weird.
