best multilingual plugin for WordPress with SEO in mind

HI All,
Which is the best multilingual plugin for WordPress so that I can make sure the SEO for the other languages is also good?
I have been looking at the different plugins available and it looks like the most popular plugins are qtranslate and WPML.
Is there any difference in the output of these plugins? I know qtranslate stores all the text for each in the same post so if you deactivate it at any point you get all the languages in the pot separated by some tags.
WPML looks better but does it really matter which one is used? I want to set it up so it at least helps the SEO for the site and not hinder it.
Has anyone on here used either plugin or can recommend another?
Thanks

I use the Google Translate gadget on one of my Wordpress sites rather than a plugin (mainly because when I checked very few of them covered Welsh). It does the job well and I'm guessing that as it's built my Google it isn't going to have any adverse effects on the SEO.

Thanks for the info, in this case I need to use something more than a translate box. The client will be providing / wanting to edit the translations themselves as they work in different countries.
