Have the floods really affected the availability that much though? I heard about the floods, and all the tech blogs were screaming, "oh noes, we won't have any hard drives!", but I thought they were just blowing smoke to be honest. I'm sure it's just an excuse to put the prices up.

I read in the Reg comments that PC World were limiting hard drives to two per customer now.

It does seem funny/stupid if all the major vendors had their main production facilities (eggs) in the same area (basket). (I'm basically implying here that they had their eggs in the same basket)

Yeah it would be pretty funny/stupid. It's almost as if they've kept all their eggs in one basket.
