My sister is completely non website savy, can't code, knows nothing about domains, IP addresses etc. I know a reasonable amount but I'm very rusty.

Basically she has a free site with Weebly and she has a domain name registered with 123reg. Currently that domain points to another website (Joomla one) on a hosting account but she wants to ditch that site because she can't get her head around Joomla and instead wants that domain to point to the Weebly site. Looking at Weebly's terms they do allow you to do this and they give these instructions.

I don't completely understand what they say as whenever I've administered a domain I've had to change the name servers i.e. NS1.domain.tld NS2.domain.tld but they are talking about entering an IP address and I don't understand what the difference is?

I can't quite work out how to do this with 123reg. I think it's:

1.Log into Control Panel
2. Select Domain
3. Under Advanced Domain Settings click on the one named Manage DNS (A, MX, CNAME, TXT)
4. I assume you scroll down to the A, CNAME and TXT records bit
5. Delete the existing A records?
6. Create two new A records entering the IP address listed on the Weebly help page

Assuming I get this working does this mean that when she enters her domain into a browser she'll see her weebly site but when she goes to other pages in her site will it still show her domain or will it then display her weebly URL (or is that web forwarding?dry)

In 123reg you need to update the name servers to be 123reg's, then go to the DNS section and change the @ and www A records to use the IP number supplied by Weebly.

Once this has been done there'll be nowhere for email to go unless you set up an account with 123reg or enter the IP for a mail server in the mail. A record.
