Don't groan, you knew this was coming: I'm looking for recommendations for iPad2 apps. I've got the music side pretty sewn up but everything has to earn it's keep here so I'm looking for some 'work' apps. In particular recommended apps for:

HTML/CSS/general web page editing

Twitter tools

Project management

Wireframing

Thanks!

Not remotely work, but Zinio and Zite alone make the iPad worth having.

For code HTML/CSS/JS editing I'd suggest Textastic, it's the only one I've found that has colour syntax highlighting. There's iMockups for wireframing though I've not used it much, also for planning stuff with flow charts there's OmniGraffle, it's a lot more expensive than most apps (£30ish) but it's quite nice to use.

Thanks for the replies smile

They look good, and free so I'll have those.

All of those look excellent. Textastic looks particularly good so I'll most likely buy that one, out of the other two I think I'd probably plump for iMockups purely because it's cheaper and will do the job.

I've actually found the official Twitter app pretty decent. Better than the iPhone version. I'm interested in the Tweetbot version that will hopefully come at some point though. Or what did you mean by tools?

Twitter tools

Whilst I've switched mostly to Tweetbot on my phone for the iPad I use Tweetings, it seems the most feature complete and the ability to group people and assign them a colour tag is awesome sauce.

The iPhone version is crap so I usually use Tweetdeck on that, but I have to admit the iPad version is really good, much nicer than using Twitter on a PC.

By tools I mean anything useful for following, multiple account management, mass unfollowing - that sort of stuff. I have to confess I haven't checked any Twitter tools out yet but just wondered if anyone had installed anything and had a recommendation.

Thanks - some good features included in that one.

I love the 'pad, but it's done nothing to diminish my hatred for iTunes. Just plugged the iPad into my PC to see if I could copy some of my iPhone apps across and it demanded that I 'authorise the iPad for this computer' or it would 'permanently delete' the apps I had on it (about £50's worth). Considering they're bought and paid for, and I've already auhtorised the bloody iPad once already I went though and did it again only to be told that it was now authorised for 2 out of 5 (?) computers. Is it going to do this every time I plug it in until I run out of computers and it kills me?

Was it authorised on the same computer and on the same install? Usually if you re-install iTunes then it'll want to reauthorise everything. However, once you reach 5 out of 5 (or even sooner) authorised computers you can go in and remove them all and start again. It's just a case of them ensuring you can only connect to 5 computers at once. Same with music bought on iTunes etc.

Then he's holding it wrong. It's not a big deal.

Ah right. No it's the same install and PC, I seem to remember the iPhone did the same thing. Just plugged it in again and it didn't try and authorise it again so it's probably ok now.

Bump for FC, in case he didn't see this.

A Tour of Animoog

Animoog for 69p (for a month, until it goes up to full price of 30 quid)

Oooh lovely - thanks Steve, no I missed that one - bargain price too!

I've nabbed that. I bought a new Korg app yesterday as well - it's supposed to be for the iphone but it scales up on the ipad.

Very impressed with the musical apps, and a Moog for 69p is just silly.

It's ridiculously good, sounds great with the proper Moog filter sound. Love it.

I like music apps like this, they take advantage of the touch screen and let you do things you couldn't do with a hardware synth. Not that I've got a spare grand to spend on a Moog anyway - 69p is more my budget.

I bought the iKaossilator yesterday for 6 quid, which has pretty much all the features of the hardware box that costs £120, but the ipad gives you a much bigger playing area. Bargain!

Filtatron, also by Moog, is available for 69p at the mo too. Don't know if that's of any use to you as well? http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/filtatron/id396776418?mt=8

funny - so did I for my iPhone, although I'm finding the animoog a lot easier to play with

I couldn't install it on my phone as I'm running an old os, but it's great on the iPad. Some lovely sounds in there. You can't edit the sounds as you can with the Moog but you can still do some nice stuff using the x/y controller. It's more of a fun thing, whereas the Moog is a proper synth.

Yeah I've got that. It's a bit of a weird one, and crashes quite a bit but once again for a few quid it provides a lot of scope for sound mangling.

I've just had another go with the new Moog thing, and it's a stunning little synth. I think I prefer it to the korg ims20.

You've made my day with that link this morning Steve, though I'm guessing mrs FC won't be so impressed.

Djay is great fun; its for mixing as opposed to producing music. Uses the library on the device, good looking software and does everything you'd expect from it.

Not sure how well that'd work with my Hawkwind mp3's, but I'll give it a go...

Latest 'pad purchase is this one:
Jamie Lidell performing with iMaschine
(yes that's me in the video). Unfortunately it's got me wanting the proper thing for xmas:

Jeremy Ellis performs on Maschine Mikro

(me again).
