I only managed to buy a house as my parents snuffed it and they left me a few grand. Apart from that I had abou fifty quid in the bank. We were also both unemployed so the then mrs fc took a crap job for a few weeks and I wangled my freelance earnings a bit to get the rest of the money we needed. Even on the piffling amount we earned we could easily afford the repayments, but it was so hard to get a mortgage those days we had to lie through our teeth.
Last IFA we had was great, but others in the past have been poo.
