Played with a kindle the other day and despite my traditional luddite tendencies it weren't half bad. Before I go shopping I want to know which are good, obviously everyone has now heard of kindle but I know there are several others on the market, anyone got any first hand experience of them?

Daughter has a Kindle and seems to get a lot of use out of it. As with all these things, it's the ecosystem and UI that's important rather than the hardware IMO. Kindle is a pretty safe bet.

My Step-dad has a Sony e-reader and he loves it, though I do think that the Kindle has the edge. Plus, I tried to sort out a problem for him and the settings for the Sony are a bugger to sort out (long story)
