Knob keeps falling off.

My gear knob keeps falling off in the car (its one of those pinch up to reverse), or worse, spinning around.
Is there a good type of glue to use on metal to metal? I tried no more nails, didnt work. Probably a bit daft.
Its very annoying, and slightly embarrassing.
Thanks.

No more nails won't work but, if you want a grab adhesive use either Evo-stik serious stuff liquid metal or Evo-stik sticks like sh*t.
Araldite would be my first choice though.

After that post I went back and read the OP again in a slightly... different light. Made me chuckle, so it did.

If the bond gap is thin then a superglue should do the business. But remember that any overspill won't cure in air until you put your hand on it. And it will be quick.
If the bond gap is more than a quarter of a mm then a 2 part acrylic would be your best bet.
No more nails and stuff rely on surface moisture to cure and there's precious little on metallic surfaces which is why it won't work.

If none of that works then may I suggest Gorilla Glue? I tend to use this for crafting but it does say it sticks to metal, ceramics, etc. Might be worth a try?
