Does anyone know about the new Uk legislation coming in effect?

No one seems to know how to implement this or if we have to do anything?

Does anyone know what we have to do to?

There's a guidance PDF here: http://www.ico.gov.uk/for_organisations/privacy_and_electronic_communications/cookie_rules_prepare.aspx

I have been reading that but I am not sure what I should do ie have a pop up for people or will it be ok to just have info on the site somehow?
Most sites don't use cookies for anything other than google analytics but i don't really want to have a popup to ask them if it is ok.

SItes that have members sections or shopping carts are easy as when shopping it can alert the user if they add something to the basket for example but im not sure what to do about google analytcs.

Reading through the thing it seems there's an exception if cookies are required for the site's functionality, so most shopping carts should be ok I think.

As FC says, cookies for site functionality are fine.  The general interpretation is that analytics cookies are not covered by the exception (and indeed one of the reasons the directive passed).

The ICO themselves use Google Analytics.  It'll be interesting to see how they handle it.

So this SEO copywriter walks into a bar, grill, pub, public house, Irish bar, bartender, drinks, beer, wine, liquor...

Beware my weird, cross-dressing comment's; they are pretty standard examples of trolling.
