Hi all, Does anyone have any decent sites/resources for free stock photos? I'm actually looking for one graphic in particular; something like this: Johnathan suggested iStockPhoto although I'd prefer it to be free if possible. Obviously there's ShutterStock shown above, which conned me into signing up by leading me to believe I could get a limited number of images for free, and Stock Exhange (which is usually great, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for this time) but other than that I'm stumped. Ideally I'd like a nice blue wave effect, like the one shown above, that either repeats, or is around 1300px wide and 300px in height. Thanks for your suggestions/help!

I use stock xchng but for something like that you could knock it up yourself in ten minutes with a vector app.

Are you mad woman? That involves some kind of actual work/effort on my part. I don't get paid enough for work and/or effort. Although I didn't realise you could just download Illustrator like that, else I might have looked up tutorials. If this doesn't work, a puppy will be sacrificed to the Gods Of Vengeance. A real cute one, too.

Is it a trial version? I'd expect there is something about using trial versions for commercial work... Just saying. I'm no net cop or grass.

Probably is yeah, I've not tried it out yet. If anyone asks, I'm just using it to "beef up my CV with more graphic-related work", and not for commercial purposes. I can't be President of Earth for the next 600 years without knowing anything about vector graphics, you know.

Stop crying like a girl and learn a bit of graphics. If I have to soil my lovely designers brain with .php and browser compatibility then the least you can do is learn how to draw a wavy line, developer boy.

No it's a MoD stealth boat - half the boat is stealthy because it's underwater.

What's a hand-glider pilot? Right now I'm assuming it's someone who waves their had in front of them in an aeroplane style motion, with thumb and little finger pointing out like wings while making "whoosh" sound effects. Perhaps they might incorporate stooping low and stretching up to simulate diving and climbing and also banking around tables, chairs, kettles, televisions, cats, psychiatrists, etc. A hang-glider pilot, on the other hand, would be the kind of chap who pilots a hang-glider.

I now have the embarrassing task of explaining to my head of studio why I'm laughing like an idiot, and why I was wasting time reading threads about wave graphics when I should have been hacking about WP.

Right, got another question. The image I linked to (before Photofuckit messed it up) is about 1200 pixels wide, however it's going to be the background image for a <div> element that's about 900 pixels wide. When I do that, of course, it cuts off the image, rather than letting the image "overflow" as it were, which (believe it or not) is actually what I want. So is there some CSS property I can set for the <div> element that'll make the background image display outside the borders of the <div> element? Chars.

No. Create another div, put the 900px div inside it. Assign the background to the new div.
Or, you know, assign the background to body / html

I like the fact I know what the above thing means. If you said that down the pub they'd think you were pissed.
