Welcome to the Official DDN Friday thread - where we get to celebrate the fact that it's Friday, and that in a few short hours we'll be free of "the man" and can wallow in our own filth without judgement or penalty!

Any plans for the weekend? I plan to make pancakes to make up for the lack of them on International Pancake Day, and that's about it.

I'm off to Bedworth tomorrow to play at the Midlands Regional Brass Band Championships, first section.

We're playing some Berlioz - La Caranaval Romain - and I'll be spending a significant part of the day in the bar smile

Hope everyone has a good weekend  Cool

Welcome to Friday, when Japan is rocked and flooded and the whole Pacific basin, from New Zealand to California, awaits a wall of water.

Don't forget the spread of protests is spreading further across the middle east meaning oil will be a luxury for the super-rich only and we'll all be forced to eat our own babies.

Yeah the whole Japan thing is a bit of a 'mare. I didn't even realise Japan suffered from earthquakes until today. I hope the death toll doesn't rise too much. It was at about 100 or so when I last heard.

it's those pics of cars trying to drive away from the tsunami that've got me - that link you put on twitter (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12709850), if you look at 2 mins 54, in the bottom left there's a car that turns to try & drive through the fields...

Oh, I didn't get that far into the video. Aside from having internet troubles at the moment, it was pretty bad to watch. Quite unreal to see it happening too.

Tonight I am continuing my extended birthday celebrations. My sister and I will be going to a singles night (which will probably serve to remind us exactly why we are happy single)! Tomorrow we are further dragging out my birthday by going ice skating> Ikea> Go Karting> Meal!
Sunday I expect I'll squeeze in a cheeky bit of geocaching.

Apart from that I'm not really doing much.

Spent the day at the funeral of a good friend who finally lost a two year battle with brain cancer.

It was great to see so many friends past & present together again - he'd have loved it.

Sorry to hear that Spannaa Sad

Today we've taken our first long drive with the baby down to my parents. Thankfully he slept most the way (just over 3 hour journey), with a stop for a feed and our lunch on the toll road services. Now he's in bed, I've had a drink, all is good smile Got a week of visiting family and friends, chilling out and getting looked after by my parents (with a quick trip to Kent and Brighton on Monday/Tuesday).

Been pretty much following the news all day - incredible footage and devastation - can't believe the deathtoll at the moment when you look at this stuff.  Earthquake, Tsunami.  Then the fires, now the radiation leak... I hadn't seen the footage in the Twitter link, the car, SAMMO, make that cars!  Horrifying... No escape is there?

Friday night for me is my live singing chat night, normally - don't feel much like it right now.  And I'm not sure the Americans will either - usually starts around 1am these days (I host) and um, don't really go to bed until... yeah, most of you will have got up again... heh, but tonight is different and like I said, not sure if it will happen.

Spannaa, really sorry to read your news too.  Good that you were able to see and share the love for him that remains with his memory.

I'm spending today getting rid of old fridge-freezers, and then out aboot toon for some shopping it seems. Good times!

I've heard they've had to evacuate areas around a couple of nuclear plants in Japan now... it seems like things aren't yet under control.

It's Friday again!

Gonna have a nice, long, lie-in(lay-in?) tomorrow. Got woken up at the crack of sparrowfart this morning by some pillock ringing the phone. Who rings phones at 5:00am?

Americans. That's who.

Hoping to go and see our friends new baby later today, day at the coast tomorrow if it doesn't snow, and DIY on Sunday if Mrs FC can find me.
