I'm doing a test for a client:

http://hs-demo.co.uk/rotation/

It feels like there should be a better way to do this rather than having 36 different images though. Obviously there's a need to create 36 images, but I'm wondering if it would be more efficient to create one image with 36 frames inside, and move the background instead of cycling <li>s - quicker to load without the extra jpeg overhead per file?

Also, there are a few problems with the test images - the background wasn't blown out enough, and there's a jolt mid rotation, plus the garment isn't ironed etc.

Sorry - I didn't mean the technical aspects of recording the individual shots, I meant in terms of how to display on a web page. I've got 36 shots (not the best, but this is just a test). Currently I've stacked all 36 on top of each other, and I'm cycling them like a flipbook - but I've got each loading into the page currently - that's 36 images being loaded, and I'm wondering if there's a more efficient way to do it (without resorting to turning it into a video). It needs to work without Flash or other plugins.

I've found a jQuery plugin that uses a single sprite for the whole shebang - seems the way to go - just in case anyone else has/had something similar in mind.

http://jquery.vostrel.cz/reel not using it yet, but will do unless I come across something better. That's not to say I'm actually going to use that plugin, but the general idea. My client probably wants a zoom function which - as far as I can see - wouldn't be very easily to implement with that plugin, but the same principle could be engineered to work with a zoom relatively easily.
