OK, this should be really simple right?

Purchase a domain, set the nameservers to your server, create an account on the server and tell it the domain.

Ok, so I purchased a domain from another forum member and transferred it at Nominet to my name. Transferred it into 123-reg and set the nameservers to my server. Have created an account and checked I can have multiple domains, set the domain to be mine and it doesn't work.

The domain is inkandtoners.co.uk and the nameservers of my server are ns1.clustered.net and ns2.clustered.net

The weird thing is if I change my nameservers to ns.123-reg.co.uk and ns2.123-reg.co.uk then it works. Am I missing something totally obvious but that shouldn't work should it? I've not done anything with the DNS within the 123-reg control panel.

http://www.intodns.com/inkandtoners.co.uk seems to make me think my server records could be the issue but why does it work when using 123-reg's name servers??

Your DNS may be cached, so it's still resolving to 123-reg's servers.

Set the ns to ns1.clustered.net and ns2.clustered.net, then type ipconfig /flushdns on the command line (C:>) to make sure you're seeing the right servers.

Thanks Ory.

Tried but to no avail. It only started working when I changed the nameservers to 123-reg's own and now i've changed back to clustered.net is when it stopped working again.

Saying that though I have just remote'd into the office and had a look on my desktop and that is still working. We're on Virgin at home where it isn't working so will give it a bit longer. PITA though as want to work from here on the site!

At the moment I am not really sure if the office is caching or our home Virgin connection is. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.

I can't ping inkandtoners.co.uk from the office nor does an nslookup work. From home it's the same. My other domain on the same server works from both and responds to ping and nslookup fine.

Confused of Cheltenham.

All sorted.

Contacted Clustered and he sorted it within minutes.

Excuse the SPAM but Clustered are really worth a shot for hosting.
