I've got a collection of (147) static .html pages with ugly-as-sin table layouts... I need to strip most of the outermost table markup out and wrap the main content with a css layout template

My current editors of choice (Notepad++ and Dreamweaver) only really have simple search/replace dialogs

Can anybody recommend a tool that can batch update a whole directory of files and replace find/replace large multiple lines of text?

dreamweaver can do it if you know how (well it used to be able to). You can do a find/replace for a whole project and also use expressions. Or CuteHTML can do updates on all files in a directory.
