I have three computers, (two desktops and a laptop) which are sharing the same folders of documents. At the moment the documents (many thousands of them) are sitting on a NAS and each PC gets to them there but its painfully slow at time, especially if opening a folder with a couple of thousand or so files in it.

So, is there any automatic sync software anyone can recommend where each user works on documents on their own PC but it syncs with the NAS continually so everyone has the current documents but isn't completely reliant on the NAS every time they open a folder?

I use synctoy and some batch scripting to do something similar - can be a bit of a fiddle, but works fairly well once setup.

I have synctoy but its manaul only isn't it (i.e. you have to remember to do it)? Unless I've missed a setting somewhere, which wouldn't be the first time smile

I use Chronosync on mac - it works really well. I believe there's a PC client too? It can be scheduled as you choose - for example I have mine doing a sync on three massive folders every two hours, Monday to Friday, 9am - 9pm, but I can also have it do just one of the folders every 10 mins if I want. It's worth the price many times over.

Syncback will do it, not a constant sync tool but you can schedule it as often as you like, i use it to move server backups around in work.

You can setup batch files to run it - and then schedule them to run every day / hour / minute etc

Cheers chaps. I've gone with Goodsync as a try and it seems to be doing the job nicely. smile
