Author Topic: Amazon Associates problems  (Read 1021 times)

Our Amazon Associates account has never worked properly, the admin panel is full of bugs so for example we couldn't update our personal details and put in a change of address. After weeks of support emails they finally fixed that issue saying that it was strange as it hadn't affected other accounts.

We've had various other issues, but the new and most pressing one is the inability to add new domains to our account. Their new T&C's demand that you do this, or you don't get paid for sales from those accounts, and as we feature their ads on about 8 sites that aren't listed we're obviously keen to list them.

They replied a month ago (two weeks after our initial support query and after chasing it up several times) saying "The error is only occurring on your Associate account and we are having difficulty in ascertaining the cause."

It's now six weeks since we first reported the issue to them, it's still not fixed, and we haven't heard back from them for weeks.

Our sales have dropped from around 20 a month to 0, which I don't think is coincidence, especially as we've upped the promotion. My guess is sales aren't being registered as the domains aren't listed now. I did suggest scrapping our old account, as it had some magical problem that no other account has, creating a new one and transferring the sales to that one, but they ignored that suggestion.

Any ideas what we can do? We feel we're being completely ignored while making healthy profits for Amazon.

I've never added additional domains to my accounts and have links dotted all over the place. I don't make much off them but I do get one or two sales now and then from various unlisted sites.

Where do you add additional domains? I just looked in my account and can't see anything obvious.

As for your issues, I'd just keep contacting them. Are you getting any click throughs registered at all?

If you login to Associates Central and go to Account Settings > Edit your Web site information, the top item (What is the URL of the website(s) you will use to send traffic to Amazon?) has an "Add additional URLs" link.

I've never bothered to add any additional domains to mine though and it doesn't seem to affect my click-throughs, orders or earnings.

Until you get paid for referrals from the additional sites stop referring customers to them. It doesn't resolve your issue but stops them profiting from it while they do nothing about it.

Thanks for the replies.

Hardly any now, I was getting hundreds each day a couple of months ago, now that's dropped to just one or two.

When I go through that process and submit the changes it just sends me to the support contact page.

Yeah I might as well. It's a bit of a pain as I set up a few sites to generate a bit of additional income which they did for a few months. I've already taken off Affiliate Future links though as their admin is completely hopeless and always having problems (by their own admission), plus their click through counts didn't match my own.

Had a reply from support today after chasing them up again. They suggested making sure all my bank details were up to date.

Yes they are, still doesn't work.

I guess I'll have to wait another 6 weeks for the next reply, which might suggest that I try wearing a novelty pair of rubber false ears when accessing my account.

I'll try anything if it works.
