Much maligned I feel ... maybe a national day of mourning by wearing Donkey Jackets would be a good idea.

He used to come to Grasmere every year to do a spot of poetry reading at the annual Wordsworth festival. A real romantic and a real gentleman.

When he resigned as Labour leader was when I got disillusioned with the party and left it.  Sad

Quote
Prime Minister and Labour leader Gordon Brown led the tributes, describing Mr Foot as a "man of deep principle and passionate idealism".

I wonder if his speech writer had to explain what some of those words actually meant.

At least he had strong principles unlike the current bunch  .. I don't know if it's me getting old (probably is!) but I never watch Question time now .. they're such a bunch of dullards .. so dull that they have to have 'celebrities' on it !!

Give me the old days when both left and right had characters .. a panel of Tony Benn, Dennis Skinner, Norman Tebbit .. great fun  smile

I feel exactly the same Charlie. There again I think we're about the same age aren't we?  biggrin

How I long for the day when Robin Day would shut somebody up with an outrageously rude remark.  smile
