044 DIY Beauty Dish Parts

44/365

Right I've assembled the parts for my DIY beauty dish, from left to right:

Small plastic  plant pot dish

Assorted nuts and bolts, washers and L bracket. Large plastic plant pot dish. All bought from B&Q for just under £12.

I'm currently in the process of spraying the pot dishes, 2 coats of primer then the large dish will be flat white on the inside and matt black on the outside, the small dish will be flat white on the outside and possible the same or silver on the inside.

Assembled picture tomorrow.

Ruby will be five months old next week (!!) and she's growing fast. We try and weigh her every four weeks or so and today was baby clinic day, so we headed down there to assess her chubbiness.

In four weeks she has gained a healthy 2lbs 1oz and is now creating back pain for both of us with her hefty 15lbs 14oz (7.22kg) weight. She also grew another 2cms and most of her 3-6 month clothes are starting to creak at the seams.

Most of the increased weight gain is probably down to the recent introduction of formula milk but she's always been a healthy eater and was quite large when she was born. She's continuing to eat and sleep really well and looking more and more beautiful every day.

I've had some lovely moments with her today, making her laugh by making funny noises and generally arsing around with her.

It's my girl!

365 - Day 41 - Thorn Droplet

We had a 5 min snow flurry and I was trying to get some shots of the snow flakes. They were too small and clumped together to be any good for photos, but this melted flake caught my attention nestled on a thorn bush as it had formed a perfect sphere.

Title's a little misleading as it isn't Murcury. Just water drops on a DVD.

The ground around our work buildings doesn't seem to have very good drainage

This is Highfield Park in Beeston - part of the grounds for Nottingham University.

We had dentist appointments this morning (all clear for both of us) and as the dentist is in the University grounds we decided to have cup of coffee and a slice of cake in Lakeside Café afterwards.

The grounds are really nice and it's always worth a visit. We've had some lovely, brisk weather today and the lake was looking gorgeous. You can see the Trent building in the background.

I've used the Lo-mob application on my iPhone to add the effect on here. It's another TtV affect that I wish I could reproduce properly but I don't have the required camera. I must get one (whatever it is) because I love the rectangular shape.

I promise not to overdo this but there are so many effects I could do in-phone there could be a dirth of "proper" photos for a while...

I can't believe it's not a TtV

Most of the photos of taken for my 365 project have been with my iPhone, which has one of the worst cameras around. Luckily there's a wealth of photo-related applications to make them more interesting.

I've found one called "Lo-mob" which aims to reproduce a few lo tech methods, such as "through the viewfinder" (TtV) - which I've done with this one.

I like the fact that the effect actually looks pretty good, but slightly embarrassed that I'm not having to create it the old way. I love doing "proper" TtV stuff with my Kodak Duaflex but this is just so much easier...
