wireless is rubbish

hi all ive got BE broadband in the new place ive moved into.
if i use the cable to plug into the router i can get speeds of around 15 - 16MB but over wireless i only get around 7MB.
The service has synced at 19MB.

I have tried changing the channel on the router to see if that help but it has made no difference what so ever.
Would getting a new N-router sort this out?

I am on a macbook pro if that helps.

good news i popped out to Novatech and bought a Netgear n wireless router/modem and im not up 15mb on wireless
