It's five or six months since I first got an iPhone:

iPhone 1
Battery lasted about 4 hours on standby. No 3G or wi-fi on to drain it and not used to drain it. "Short battery life is normal with smartphones sir" says the girl at O2. Not this bloody short so they eventually changed it.

iPhone 2
microphone not working.

iPhone 3
freezing needing a complete reset about 3 times a day. Also just pressing the top of the screen switched it into and out of silent mode.

iPhone 4
After 1 week it will no longer talk to it's (or indeed any) charging cable or dock.

Great phones when they work, but the worst dog of a phone I've ever had, by miles!

Sorry to hear you've had such a crap time with them. I've coveted owning one for a while now. I haven't made the jump as I can't afford one and we haven't got 3g here, but that probably wouldn't have stopped me, so thanks for the warning.

Never had a problem with m'3G if-one. Skipped 3Gs, waiting for Apple announcement at the end of this month about their 'new creation'. Might be an iPhone, might be this ruddy tablet everyone's been on about. Will have to see.

Sad I've never had an issue with either of my iPhones (the original and the 3G). Haven't got a 3GS as it didn't seem worth the upgrade cost.

The only problem I've had with my 3G was down to me filling up all the memory (about 1MB left) which caused it to run soooooo slow that even deleting files to free up memory took ages. However once deleted it was back to normal.

Apart from that user error mines been, touch wood, very reliable. Yeah the battery life sucks but I knew that before buying it. Like a lot of people I didn't/don't see the point in upgrading to the 3GS. I'd be interested in the next model iPhone but I seriously doubt I could convince Mrs. SL to let me upgrade to it seeing as I bought mine (Pay&Go) less than a year ago!

Any phone can comes with an 18/24 month contract but only an 12 month warranty rings alarm bells with me.

I know they just hate me - I have five of the damn things now and its only mine that's ever been a problem. All the others work just fine, but put one in my sweaty paws and it dies within hours Sad
