Probably really simple but I have a Word Document which if I'm in any view other than Print Layout view shows occasionally what I can only describe as a large gray character in the shape of a capital I. It's not an actual letter as I can't select it so it must be some kind of markup/formatting but it doesn't disappear if I hide formatting marks.

What the hell is it?
