Gotta say, after spending this morning sorting my staff out who won't help each other out even over this festive season, it warms my heart to see people going the extra mile and putting themselves out.

I've thrown a few pennies in and I really hope Abigail has the best xmas she can under the circumstances.

Great post Jon! I have been following the effort since you started it, and although I have understood its purpose this post does a really great job solidifying the full rationale.

Money sent - sent a random amount and paid the fees to try and round up the total, hopefully someone else didn't do the same or we'll be back to square one with the random amount smile

Have we made a final decision on where to get vouchers from? I think the choice is either the Early Learning Centre or Mothercare? Whichever we choose I'll get them on Tuesday, and send them special delivery that day to her mum's to make sure she's got them for Christmas. So if anyone else wants to make a donation if they can do it today or tomorrow that would be great, cheers!

After having a look through both of their sites my vote would be for Mothercare, as there's a lot more choice and prices are comparable (a bit lower at MC at the moment due to them having a sale).

I'd agree with Mothercare, mainly because there's more than just toys there ie. clothes, furniture. In the sales both will be fairly comparable at pricing at Emma can spread the vouchers out throughout the year if she wants.

Have you looked at whether she has either/both/neither close by? Other than that, I'm happy to go with whatever everyone else is happy with smile

In Mothercare you could get a present as well as something useful/helpful for looking after a kid as a single mother. It gets my vote smile

I know nothing of these things, so if vouchers for the local Wine Rack are considered inappropriate for a small baby then MC sounds good.

I think we're all done, the total is £285 which is fantastic, thank you everyone!  biggrin

We'll get and send the vouchers tomorrow and she'll hopefully have them on Wednesday, or Thursday at the latest.

Mothercare vouchers have been sent, but waddayaknow we'd got another donation in when we got home from Kimbal. What I'll do with anything else that comes in is to either send a cheque after the holiday or do a bank transfer to Emma (or, if we get enough extra, we can maybe get Premium Bonds as suggested by Kimbal).

Nice one Dave smile

You need to have a clear £100 for Premium Bonds I think, though they are a nice idea
