Bumping this, and if it's sent as a gift it looks like there's no fees too smile

Just wondering, how long should I leave this running for? And what are we going to get? There's a few options such as Amazon gift vouchers, Mother care vouchers etc (I would want to try and pick a gift myself).

Dunno - I guess long enough for everyone who originally expressed an interest to have got round to contributing. I know I haven`t done so yet - will do later today when I get Mrs Y off my back. As for the gift - definitely vouchers, or even the cash?

ps - I'll spam Twitter about this again today. Net magazine forums already done.

Can you give us an idea of what the amount is Dave? That would inform what we decide to do I reckon.

Secret Santa gift & Abigail donation both done smile

I think perhaps Emma should probably decide what to do with the money. Maybe she's got something in mind that we could get. I know that I'm a bit picky about what I'd like Ruby to get for Xmas. Mothercare gift vouchers might be the way to go

It's currently at £124.46, but we're still to donate too (no point Paypalling myself wink)

Just to re-iterate something I said earlier, if donations are made as a gift (send money > personal > gift) then Paypal won't make any charge to receive it, whereas they will if it's sent as a payment.

Hmm. Okay, I agree with Rutty then - let's ask Emma? I always thought Mothercare was expensive. Maybe ELC?

I don't know what ELC is? Asking Emma's probably a good idea. Or I can send her a cheque and she can decide what to do with it? Or? I'm happy to go along with what everyone else thinks </copout>

ELC = Early Learning Centre (if you had kids you'd have known that!)

When I did that they did charge. However they gave you the option of paying the charge rather than the person receiving the money being liable for the charge*

*There is the possibility I messed it up somewhere but I know I chose gift.

Hmm, it's confusing this Paypal malarky. If you use your Paypal balance or bank acct to send a personal payment/gift it's free. If you make a card payment then either the sender or receiver has to pay a fee, and the recipient has to pay a fee on all non-personal payments.

Quote
It's free* when you use your PayPal balance or your bank account linked to your PayPal account. There is a charge of

3.4% + £0.20 GBP*
for debit or credit card payments
(either the sender or recipient can pay this fee).

Anyhow, the running total is now £169.46 with me still to donate.

Net magazine forums already done.

Just seen that, but will they know why? I'm not sure if it was ever mentioned there that he'd passed away?  unsure

Now at £193.41 (with us still to donate) smile

If anyone else is going to donate if you can do it by Sunday night then we can send either vouchers or a cheque on Monday and it should get to them in time for Xmas.

'us' not 'me' Tongue wink

I would only suggest vouchers simply because I'm not 100% sure if Emma will have set Abi up a bank account yet (unless the cheque is made out to Emma). I'm sure mothercare or ELC vouchers would be good, although I don't know if/where an ELC is around here, but I know where mothercare is.

Do you reckon Abigail wants to host DDN for a year? wink

Excellent total and a lovely idea. It really represents what Christmas should be about.
