I'm more than happy to host DDN on my own servers for minimum/no cost.
I'll stick a bit in thought if we are to continue with hosting!

Cheers - we've all got servers dotted around the place - myself included - but a good few years back we decided not to host on our own servers (I forget why now, maybe someone can remind me?). All donations have been very much appreciated - I know you all know this already, but it's worth reiterating. DDN FTW!

No trouble! I'm happy to donate and have done.

I've just accidentally clicked the affiliate link instead on unread and ended up buying £20 worth of retro cheese. I hope you're happy!

I'm banned from them Sad

A while ago I ordered a PS2 game and they sent a PS3 one. I queried it and they sent out the proper PS2 one but asked me to pay the postage to sent the wrong one back. I refused as they'd ballsed up so why should I pay again for it, so I kept it until they paid the postage and they eventually told me I was banned.

How long did they take to get around to it?

For the receipt of unsolicited items you have no obligation to return them; however as it was a mistake with an order that probably wouldn't count but even then they were under the obligation to arrange the replacement, including cost of returns. If they didn't do that within 21 days then you had no obligation to return the item. And the only time you would be is if you had received the correct item but decided to return it and had been told prior to confirming the order that returns are your responsibility.

That's the kind of great service that led me to ban myself from using them. They're shite and I'd rather spend a little more elsewhere to get a better standard of service.

It is quite dangerous - I nearly bought some anti-gravity boots.

Result! About to buy something from Play.com, thought "I wonder", clicked the tag above, checked on Amazon and it was a couple of quid cheaper.

CD on its way to me, and cash on its way to DDN. biggrin

Would it be possible to nudge the amazon tag to right a wee bit?

I kept opening the amazon link, every time I (try to) hit the "Show unread posts since last visit" link.. big grin

Wasn't just me then!

Sam, on my broswer I can see the square background and it's still right on the end of the link, whether it could be moved slightly more at all?

It'll most likely be 5% for books, CDs etc. It can get up to about 10% (although can't remember if that's for direct product links only), however you need to sell a fair bit to get moving up the scale. Electrical items have a max payout of £7*

(* this is all going from what I last paid attention and read it!)

Do they? Crafty buggers - I didn't know that.

I had a thing through today from them, they've updated their T&C's again. I'm probably violating their terms on a few things now so they'll probably wait until I get enough in my account for a payout and then boot me off.

I notice now they've slipped in an 'administration charge' for accounts that don't generate sales for a specific period. Knowing my luck I'll end up owing them money!

What about a quote service for people who require design/coding other services?

Using a quote facility, it'll email the details to those who want to be involved and they can then contact the potential client with their quote. If they get the work they donate a set percentage to the fund.

I have a full featured freelance script (php), a bit like getafreelancer.com, that I am happy to donate if this idea has legs.

This has been the case for a number of years now.

I notice now they've slipped in an 'administration charge' for accounts that don't generate sales for a specific period.
It's not that bad - the 'specific period' is 3 years prior to any given calendar month.

It is that bad for me - my account was dormant for a few years until I kick started it again, so they'll probably hit me with that one.

Just bought something through the link. It was already in my basket before clicking through (remembered during checkout) - I assume that doesn't make a difference though?

We did all our christmas shopping in september last year, so perfectly acceptable wink  I was actually going to mention to Mr A that we needed to make a start for this year, especially after a lot of people didn't get their deliveries last year due to the snow big grin
