I am trying my very hardest to edit a psd file and remove some text etc and replace it with my own. I am currently trying to do this in Photoshop Elements which opens the psd file fine. However, I cant seem to edit the layer of text so I can add my own. I am not sure if this is down to my lack of skill or the software limitations ?

I have a list of all the sections of the psd on the edit list, when i click the eye icon, they disappear, but I can see any way to separate the the layer from the background. If this doesnt make sense, then tell me so, my knowledge of graphics is terrible as you may all well remember. I used to send it to Jee and within 10 mins he would send it back done. However, for obvious reasons I have to try and get my head around it myself now.

If anyone can shed any light it would be appreciated.

Has the text layer been rasterised? If it doesn't show up with a T icon in the layers palette then it's no longer a text layer and no longer editable with the text tool. You can send it to me to have a look at if you're not sure.

Over the last hour I have just grasped the concept of these psd files. In saying that, the psd I am looking to edit does not give me the text option. Its basically the header in my forum. I have just tried with a team icon and have discovered how I can alter the text on these buttons by changing the layer or adding the layer etc, this does show a text option within the layers. The actual logo seems to be not editable. Having a further look into the forum support site, there is the logo background available in .png format. I presume I have to add my text to that which has now thrown me way off as that is something beyond me, I think.

I am more than happy to send it across for you to look at and advise me on. smile
