You'll probably get a different variation for every member that answers  True but I'd rather get a bit of a discussion going before changing it and having a few different people then go, "I don't like it." Take for example matt's suggestion. That doesn't work for me (personally) as it has Web Design and Web Ideas & reviews. That straight away removes a place for non-web programmers to post questions. Where do they post? Hardware & Software? However the general idea of stripping back the number of forums is the direction we were heading in. Thats what i was thinking... here's my tuppence worth: - Design (with a description that includes web design, image manipulation and illustration for print etc, dunno whether CSS should be here too?) - Development (with a description that includes both client and server side scripting, as well as other coding such as application development languages) - Software & Hardware (include networking in the description) |

But hey, this is DDN and after a bit of fiddling and tweaking Simple Machines seemed as good as most. There are many features I really love about this board.

I'm part of another forum (Nothing Geek related and not budgerigars either ) and they use the new IP board and it's very good. Not having the traditional "Active Topics" with SM is a pain. And for the record I'm not having a go or trying to be a smart bum, just expressing my opinion. |

I only knew you'd replied to this as I found the post again via General Discussion and not Active Topics as I would have normally via IP board. You know what I mean Mr Y Just my 2p |

There's a few quirky things going on with threads appearing days after the were apparently posted. Occasionally a similar thing happens to threads which have had an updated post.
As an example - it was 3 days after Boo had posted her site review thread before it appeared for me.

Aah, it's not just me getting this then - I thought the 'new posts' link was faulty - I just don't get all the threads, or they appear once and never again even though someones posted. |

It's up at the top I realise that what I'm about to suggest might be a bit of a swine, but how about an active topic/unread posts since last visit page that can refresh every x seconds/minutes?
