All

Due to a change in my lifestyle, I am liquidating ALL of my websites, products and services.

If anyone has had an eye on any of my stuff over the years, and fancies having a crack at any of it, make me an offer.

Cheers, Gary

It certainly is for the better Matt!

I have been feeling unfulfilled for a while and what happened to Jee recently has made me realise that I have to make changes now.  So, I'm in my 40s and starting Teacher Training !

I knew a guy who built up a very successful IT business, and then recently decided that life was too short and he wanted to follow his initial dream of being a teacher.

So, good luck Gary! It takes some guts to do what you are doing. Really hope you find it fulfilling. big grin

Great post Jon! I have been following the effort since you started it, and although I have understood its purpose this post does a really great job solidifying the full rationale.

Wow! nice one mate. I wish you all the best.

I think Jee passing away has really driven home to all of us that life really is precious and sometimes much shorter than we expected.

Good for you. Teaching's great. Every institution needs teachers with a bit of life experience. I'm totally sold on the idea of a career change in the middle of your working life. I'm in the middle of doing it now.

Yes, all the best with your change of direction.

I've been feeling unfulfilled this last 12 mths or so too - the "excitement" and curiousity has ebbed away, but that's for another thread I guess.

Thanks Guys.

I have obstacles in my way of course - not least of which is the fact that I do not have a degree - but it just means that when I get to where I want to be it'll be that much sweeter.

I've become jaded in the last couple of years, and Jee's passing away has spurred me on to actually do something worthwhile!

Much respect to you Gary for choosing to do something so worthwhile!

I do hope the Government are now actually in the business of supporting teachers now though. I looked at becoming a maths or physics teacher a few years ago when the Government announced a scheme whereby you could combine working in the school with getting the PGCE. I got in touch with  local school to be told that yes, the Government had put this scheme in place but no, they wouldn't be giving the schools any extra cash to pay for this.  Roll Eyes

I hope it all works out for you,I'm sure it will be very rewarding.

It's a brave decision to change your career, but I wish you all the best. It's a very worthwhile thing to do.

It is a very brave thing to do. I have a few friends who have done it, not all liking it, not all disliking it either. So good luck....

Good luck, as others have said a very worthwhile career choice. Plus, if you're looking at secondary teaching and find you don't enjoy teaching kids as much as you thought you can switch to adult further education (which you can also do to supplement school teaching anyway).

My other half (Vee) was a schoolteacher - and now runs her own web business. Whilst she enjoys the latter and does quite nicely at it, I still think her passion is for teaching. Stopping work to look after the kids caused the switch to web design; just something to do in the spare moments at home. Ironically it was 'Burt' and one or two others that helped her along in the early days!

Good luck with it Gary!

Good luck Gary,

I've had a few girlfriends who were teachers and I know how hard it can be so fair play to you for making the change.
