Any recommendations? Doesn't need to be huge, but obviously reliable.

For use with asus 901.

Thanks

I just bought a Freecom 1TB external USB drive after a recommendation by Tony. It's ace. Very quiet and looks great.

Does yours need to be portable? This probably wouldn't fit that bill

Not necessarily. I'll take a look. 1Tb may be overkill for my needs, but if freecom is reliable, I might look at others.

Pretty sure Currys were doing a 1TB drive for around £70-80 recently.

I bought a couple of those, they seem ok, but have an amazingly bright light - I think it's actually a xenon headlamp for the drive so it still works in the dark - I have them turned to face the wall

Just bought one of these...

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/137316

Snazzy design, eSATA connectivity and auto backup. Perfect.

Grab a Coolermaster X-craft 360.  USB2 and eSATA connectors, and completely tool-free installation.  Just buy any drive you like, slam it in, and use it.  When you want a bigger drive you just buy one and bung that in instead.  Easy.

Ha! No. I've repackaged it ready to be collected by the lovely people at Ebuyer.

Who, while I think about it, should have a returns policy that doesn't require spending half the day on the phone. Enough time in fact to drink something, have it filter all the way through, then need the loo, go to the loo, come back to the phone, and still be on hold!

Gone for a refund while I figure out the best route to go. Nothing it seems, is ever simple.

I thought Ebuyer had an online RMA system?

I thought that as well, although when I returned a drive to Play.com I have to go via the phone.

Yep, it's completely automated. Right up until the point when you have to call them to get it 'authorised'.

Complete waste of time. Never had to call anyone to return a product before.

tool-free installation
That's handy, the tool usually phones me up to install it after they've tried plugging it in back to front.
