Hi All,

I need some general opinions to a question i have.

We develop web based applications broadly along the lines of apps like Gmail /  Writely etc... and on our homepage we have a flash demo which quickly shows the application being used in a browser which we find is an effective way of quickly putting across the functionality to the user.

When we first put this flash video up we used Firefox to showcase the app but that was when Safari wasn't quite as mainstream as it is now / Google Chrome didn't exist / Opera had a small client base etc... and IE 6 just looked ugly.

Therefore if you visited a site which was showing a flash video of a web based app what browser would you be happy / expect to see it in?

Additionally would you mind if the OS was Windows or OS X?

I know this sounds odd but I have had clients who have seen the demo on a Mac say "Oh i see you have changed the position of the minimize | maximize | close | buttons from the right hand screen to the left in the new version (referring to the difference between Mac and Windows) - so sometimes the OS can confuse people.

So basically any general views on this?

Thanks

Andy.

The browser I was using.

I'm sorry, with respect, it's a daft question - I can't think of a better reply.

On reflection, I think I may have misunderstood your question - you're talking about the browser in the video. OK, ignore above.

Whack it in IE.

Quick! Someone print that!  biggrin

I don't think it would make much different to me, I don't pay attention to the browser, but I'd prob say IE/Win depending on your audience.

Crop the video to remove the browser furniture in order to remove confusion. Faling that go for the lowest common denominator which would be IE7 on Windows (XP)

I'd go Safari or IE7 as the fonts render nicer in them than FF.
