I've had enough of my linux journey. Story so far...

Laptop buggered, can't fix windows, so installed ubuntu.
Tried getting to grips with ubuntu, but software I use all the time just doesn't work properly. I'm in the middle of a PhD, workign all the hours, and I just haven't got time to work it all out.

So, I want one of those mini laptops running XP.  biggrin
Had a look at Dell Inspiron mini 9, but would really appreciate recommendations.

Thanks

 no

If it doesn't work for you then move on and get the job in hand done.

Next time give Ubuntu a wide berth. I do.

Looks nice, but I like the idea of it being dead mini and under £300.

Thinking about ... Acer Aspire One ... Eee PC 901 ... Dell Inspiron Mini 9.

Want to get it tomorrow.

I've got a Eee PC 901, and it's great - but PhD... lot of typing... I wouldn't go for a mini laptop... or even a laptop.

USB keyboard/mouse, and external monitor would be OK though... then you can still carry it around.

All my typing is done with Dragon SN voice recognition, so no problem. This was one of the reasons I've had to abandon Linux tbh - the software wouldn't work properly. I'm certainly edging towards the Asus. Cheers for the info.
