You might have a point in general, but some of those questions were awful! "How many sides does a triangle have?"

When I worked there I was asked by a cabbie in Boston, on Independence Day, what Independence Day had to do with the British.

The IT manager in West Virginia once asked my boss "what island is Britain on then?".

And I was talking to a senior sales manager in Atlanta and asked where I could get some Lira and Francs (the glorious pre-Euro days) as I was going from there to Italy and then France, to which he asked "but don't you all just use dollars over there?".
