Cordless Phone

My cordless phone batteries are dying after a few years use. The phones are working perfectly though!
The batteries are 550 mAh NiMH AAA ones. Will 700mAh work ok in the charger? What about 1000mAh?
Are they likely to explode?

mAh shouldn't really make a difference, so long as the voltage/ampage is the same. Swap 500mAh batteries for 2000mAh batteries in a computing peripheral and it won't know the difference - it'll just last longer between charges.
That is a point though - go for a high capacity one, but make sure you leave it charging for aaaaaages on its first charge. Make sure it's properly charged before it goes into a high charge/recharge cycle device like a phone.

Finlly got round to sorting this. Ordered some rechargeable Uniross AAA batteries and when they arrived, I'm shocked to find out that they don't fit in the phones! The "AAA" batteries in the phone are 2-3mm smaller than the other ones.
Is this a scam by the phone manufacturers to make you buy only their batteries?
