Has anyone ever installed a search engine to search a site internally. I have one at the moment but it means I have to manually input all the urls (190) and I would rather install one which would spider my existing tags and return the results within my site.

I have been looking at the lite version at www.site-search-pro.com which looks OK. I dont mind paying a small amount if it works.

Can anyone suggest another script to look at ?

I assume it's a static site?

If so I'll run it through the coffeecup site search and forward you the output so you can style it.

Let me know.

I've worked with a few recently; each one has had varying degrees of customisability.

HTdig is an excellent script - install it, set it to index once and then either leave until you add more content if static, or set a cron job so it reindexes once an hour or so if a regulary updated dynamic site.  It's a PITA to customise the SERPs though.

PHPDig is easier to style, but be prepared for your server to grind almost to a halt each time it reindexes.  Not really a problem if you only reindex once in a blue moon, but if you are setting a regular cron job your visitors will have a negative experience (unless there's something in the config I missed).

IIRC there's another script supplied with many CPanel hosting accounts, though haven't really used it.  Another solution - if you find it acceptable - would be Google's site search feature.

So this SEO copywriter walks into a bar, grill, pub, public house, Irish bar, bartender, drinks, beer, wine, liquor...

Beware my weird, cross-dressing comment's; they are pretty standard examples of trolling.
