I've knocked up a bit of a design for a new site (feedback appreciated), but in the ongoing IE-doesn't-really-like-CSS battle, I've had a couple of issues. The majority I've been able to fix with alternative IE styling, but for some reason IE insists that a blank bar I have is a minimum height:

Compare it to Firefox and you'll see what I mean - the 1px grey bar is much much bigger in IE and I can't seem to get it to reduce.

Any ideas?

Why not just use a 1px bottom border on the header?

There already is one, but I suppose I could do it all as an image.

Then use a top border on the nav, or change the colour of the bottom border on the header to one that you can see (ie same colour as your 1px unneeded extra div).
