I just ran Zone Alarms System check and apparently the overall health of my PC is 'critical' while security is 'fair'  .. now from this result they are trying to see me their Internet Security Suite and System Mechanic.

I have their firewall, AVG, AVG anti spyware, SuperAntiSpyware, spybot and update and run regularly.

Is this just a scare tactic to get me to buy or would it be worthwhile .. must admit my PC is slower these days

any thoughts ?

I'm not surprised its slow with the amount of stuff your running. If I were you I would stick to a decent AV (Avast and AVG are free and decent) and Spybot S&D, enable windows firewall - and if you have a router enable the firewall on that.

You dont need anything else if you have common sense.

If you've got all that software (some of it theirs) and the health of your PC is critical, what does it say about their software? wink

Ignore it and don't buy.  I'm willing to bet, as it's really an advert, that that diagnosis is the same for every machine in the land.

Aperture Science
We do what we must because we can
For the good of all of us, except the ones who are dead.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake
And the science gets done, and you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive

I totally agree. AVG, Spybot, Windows Firewall and Router Firewall is enough but common sense is by far the best tool you can use when protecting your PC.
