gmail - mail from other accounts problem

I've got loads of bloody email address' most of which are just crap magnets, and its getting really hard to keep on top of them all. So, I'd like to be able to read mail sent to the couple that I use seriously via gmail (leaving the rest to be sent to thunderbird which I can trawl through whenever I get time).

Have just set it up, all very straightforward or so I thought, but the damn thing doesn't work. Just keep getting Delivery Status Notification (Failure)'s in the spam folder which say:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

    lucy@myproperaddy.com

Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 13): 550

What have I done wrong?

SMTP: unable to relay When the Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) service is configured with a very large number of alias domains, the following error message may be returned for some of the domains:

Thanks Dave, but er, what can I do to fix it? Or is it out of my hands?

Don't know, sorry. It's not something I've come across before.

Maybe forward into a couple of feeder accounts and then have them forward on to google mail, see if it makes a difference.
