Since getting my shiny, reliable and downright sleek iPhone, I've found myself finally downloading and watching/listening to podcasts. Previously I thought it was a good idea, but couldn't be arsed with the manual nature of it. Now I enjoy my daily fix while using the conveniences, or catching up with radio shows whilst *shock horror to Yawner* out on my bike. So I thought a quick thread on the best of podcasts/videocasts out there might be worth a shot - always keen to see new stuff Shocked)

I'll categorise some of mine thus:

Audio
---------
various BBC radio shows as and when they are available including:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/podcasts/directory/station/radio4/
- Thinking Allowed
- Friday Night Comedy
- In Our Time (with Melvyn Bragg)
- Front Row Highlights
- Digital Planet

The Penguin Podcast
http://thepenguinpodcast.blogs.com/podcast/

Guardian Tech Weekly
http://www.guardian.co.uk/audio

Wired Mag
http://blog.wired.com/

Video
---------
Photoshop User TV
http://www.photoshopusertv.com/

Geekbrief
http://www.geekbrief.tv

Unwired
http://www.unwiredshow.tv/

Political Lunch
http://www.politicallunch.com/

Stuff.tv
http://stuff.tv/Videos/Podcasts/

There are more, but I might add them later as I've already wasted 10 minutes grabbing these URLs!

However, I can recommend all the above. Some of them are a bit cringeworthy at times, but all worth a look. Got any recommendations? Post below please!

You should hear mine wink

My regulars are eclectic but that's the beauty of podcasts innit.

I keep an eye on WebMasterRadio, though I think the quality is sinking.

Also David Strahan (Author/Journalist/Broadcaster) (had him on my podcast too).

Audio2u - For muso's and podcasters.

...and any others that take my fancy as I come across them.

I love the Friday Night comedy podcast from BBC Radio 4 - it's the only one I really go and seek.

I concur - the Friday Night podcast is great.

The only other one I regularly listen to is a photography podcast - Tips from the top floor. I'd really like to be able to watch the occasional video podcasts that are published on the move, but alas, I don't have a video-playing iPod ;-). Some useful tips can be assimilated.

There's a whole host of other ones on iTunes that I download but never listen to/watch. I should really have a clear out too.

Yeah - me too. Or at least I did. I got a bit fed up with it.

My mustn't miss ones are some from the TWiT network. 'This Week in Tech' and 'Windows Weekly' are the best, and 'Security Now' is the other one I get every week. I think its twit.tv but I subscribe via iTunes.

Others are 'The Chequered Flag' (during the F1 season), 'moneybox', 'start the week' and the friday night comedy from the Beeb.

Sometimes listen to 'The Sceptics Guide to the Universe' which is one  I dip in and out of. Again, via iTunes.

How about unpinning Teh Secret Santa thread and sticking this up there as that ones not relevant now? A slowly growing list of recommended decent podcasts could be useful.

i am, back on Monday. After 2 weeks my available podcasts aren't looking good for the journey back. Down to a MacBreak Weekly (and I don't have a Mac) and a couple of Diggnations now.

Stephen Fry is currently doing a weekly podcast. It's just him talking, but it's fascinating stuff from a very intellectual bloke.

I've found it brain-desiccatingly dull but I'm persevering as he can be very funny.

I found it quite informative if nothing else. His latest one is on Oscar Wilde and the American Civil war. Both of which I knew very little about.

Ditto. Listened to the first one today, not exactly riveting but I'll give the lad a chance.

This is Stephen Fry? Listened to the first 2 podcasts - then seemingly nothing been posted, although I haven't plugged my iPhone into my main PC for over a week so there may be new stuff on iTunes. It's not rip-roaringly funny is it? Still potentially interesting though....

I found it on iTunes, not on his site. There were comments about it being a bit rambling, but I think he's now doing one week rambling, one week structured.

If anybody hasn't caught it yet and are a fan of the satires then give the bugle as listen
http://podcast.timesonline.co.uk/rss/thebuglemp3.rss
It's John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman who appear on TV occasionally but clearly have faces for radio! They are very funny.
