On my Windows box I used Acronis True Image to do incremental back ups.

Is it 5 Gb total or can you do incremental backups?

Don't MS offer a free backup utility, robosummatorother?

Its for servers - about 1500 users so needs to be decent really. Hence the 500gb. About 6tb of uncompresSed backups are needed at one time.

Acronis True Image also - very quick and very user friendly. That's for a simple home network but I think they also do "pro" tools.

This months PC Pro features Acronis True Image 8 personal edition. Don't know what the personal edition restrictions are.

I haven't looked at it yet but my subs copy just landed on the doormat.

edit - Ah it appears it doesn't support scheduling or Vista. Probably better off downloading the trial from their site instead. However it does allow you to upgrade to 11 for $29.99

Cheers, Ive downloaded a 15 day trial of true image and it seems to be doing the trick, only another 6 hrs of backup to go!

I set up SyncBack on one of the family's PCs recently and it seemed pretty good, comes with the excellent price of free (scroll down to find the free version).
