Does anyone have or use one of these -

http://www.iomega-europe.com/section?SID=c74fa0c20a2b5950eef668797b1a812710c:4735&secid=39290

I recently bought one but after reading the Iomega forum, there appears to be some uncertainty about the reliability of these bits of kit.

Any comments?

Dunno about the Iomegas, but I've heard bad things about the Lacies. (Mainly from Oli)

I had one, it worked great....for two days. Went back after it suddenly disappeared from Finder, never to return (without formatting again). Luckily I didn't lose anything.

There was a discussion on another forum about this, and the Western Digital My Book was the most recommended:

I agree about the MyBook. I got my Iomega drive to accompany the MyBook that I got months ago. Iomega died, but the MyBook is still going strong. Highly recommended.

I've used a LaCie USB2 drive without problem for the last two years.

The WD MyBook gets adequate reviews - no more. I'm currently looking for a raid 5 NAS server and checked out WD's World Book - absolutely awful reviews. Looks like £500 on a Thecus unit or similar is the only viable way to go for what I'm trying to achieve  Sad

I have a 640GB Iomega and rate it very highly. Never given me a moments trouble, very reliable, quiet, fast, has a 3 port USB hub on the back of it.

I also have had LACiE drives in the past but they were pants and all failed within months.
