Can anyone see anything at xxxxxxxx ? I registered it and changed the nameservers at 123reg on Tuesday evening. According to nominet whois, it hasn't been registered.

Edit: sorted, ta.

I checked on a couple of whois searches and most say it has been registered but that there are no details available.

I registered the same .co.uk and .net name at the same time, 123-reg somehow managed to only register the .com .. which was great except I didn't order it, and it was registered to someone else... it's still in my CP!

It's not registered with nominet, which is where you should be checking. 123-reg are notorious for taking a while for registering domains. I would recommend looking elsewhere - heart internet is meant to be good and they register instantly.

thanks for the info. But what do I do about 123? Will I be able to just register it elsewhere? It's in my CP at 123reg.

You'll be able to register it anywhere else. Register it, and then ask 123-reg for a refund.

I have the option to register it on a few other registration sites  biggrin

However, since it's not going to be a highyl sought after name then I'd give it another 24 hours for it to come through. Email 123 as well, see what's going on. If it's not though by then I'd order it elsewhere.

Thanks for the advice chaps. Have emailed 123, will give it a bit longer, then go elsewhere.

I wouldn't risk it - what would it do to your business if the customer realised that it was registered by another person because you inadvertantly posted it on an online forum? 123-reg are unlikely to respond straight away - they are notorious for crappy support. I would register it elsewhere, and then persue 123-reg for your money back at your leisure...

I have no experience of them personally (I have my own tag with nominet), but I have heard good things about them smile

So are 123-reg now officially bobbins? They've been fine with me so far but then I haven't bought any new domains for a while

Seems so. I was surprised. All my domains are with them and no problems, but this little episode has been shite. Heart look very good though

It's all owned by Pipex now isn't it? They've been cutting back on costs and there's rumours of them selling off their Broadband arm. Looks like they're in trouble as a business and don't have enough people to cover any sort of decent customer service.

Oddly enough the 123-reg office is right around the corner from me. Would you like me to go and post a turd through their letterbox? wink

Update: Went with Heart, changed the nameservers, still nothing after nearly 48 hours. Contacted them this morning, they got back straight away and identified a problem at nominet, now all sorted. Meanwhile, 123reg haven't even responed to the support request from Thursday! The name is still showing on my CP there.

Heart = good  123 = bad
